In the summer of 2011, Kuanta was approached by USIDC, contractor for Lockheed Martin on a U.S. Air Force Task Order Project for Long-Range Radar (LRR) and Ground Air Transmitter Receiver (GATR) infrastructure in Taji, Iraq. While conducting its site survey and resource investigation, USIDC observed the D-VOR installation that Kuanta was then completing for the U.S. Air Force at Taji Air Base. Seeking the same quality of work, USIDC requested Kuanta’s support.

Under the LRR/GATR Task Order, Kuanta performed soil analysis and developed a foundation system design. Once Lockheed Martin and USIDC reviewed and finalized the design, Kuanta executed foundation works for the LRR, GATR tower, generator, and fuel tanks. Kuanta also installed related site structures, including security fencing, an access gate, sun shading, and bollards.

After completing the infrastructure works, Kuanta provided, installed and commissioned a rooftop HVAC unit and a fully operational HVAC system for the radar dome. Kuanta’s agile logistics department secured the rooftop unit under a tight deadline, enabling the project to remain on schedule.

During the last phase of the project, Kuanta provided cranes for the radar dome and tower installation.

Currently, the LRR/GATR system in Taji is operational, and Kuanta continues to provide maintenance support for the HVAC system.
